Arte Domus
Arte (Spanish for art) + Domus (Latin for house).
Creating art, together at home.
ABOUT US
Arte Domus was founded by Yvette Roman in March of 2020 after San Diego shut down from Covid-19, to provide art classes to youth who lost their arts programming.
2021 Goals
Provide youth with an art curriculum that is diverse,
inclusive and relevant to our communities.
Provide a space where children can use art to
voice their thoughts, ideas, and feelings.
Curate virtual and in person exhibitions that highlight
San Diego, Los Angeles and Tijuana artists.
Beautify our city with messages of unity, peace and diversity.
Facilitate art workshops to increase family bonding,
boost confidence and help with stress management.
Share and support the arts community by sharing calls for entries,
residencies, funding, art exhibitions,
employment, and other creative opportunities.

FOUNDER AND LEAD EDUCATOR

YVETTE ROMAN
Yvette Roman is a bi-national artist, curator, muralist and arts educator. She holds a B.A., from UCSD in Visual Arts and Cultural Anthropology. Yvette is passionate about making art accessible through community-organized collaboration. Her artwork is an exploration of simplicity and chaos. Disciplines include painting, photography, printmaking, and collage. Her artwork weaves memories of loss, self-discovery, and personal insecurities. Her artwork has been exhibited in the United States, Mexico and Egypt.
She has guest curated at the Centro Cultural de la Raza, The San Diego Repertory Theater, and for Amigos del Rep. She was a featured artist at the 2020, Latinx New Play Festival, a muralist for The Mint House Project, and featured in the soon to be published book Latinas with a Purpose. Her solo exhibition “Fragments” was displayed by Hanalei Artwork and at Alternate Roots in North Carolina.
In 2020, Yvette founded ArteDomus and Art Box San Diego. ArteDomus was founded on the idea that we can create art together from home. Art Box San Diego is a public arts initiative to beautify utility boxes and paint murals across San Diego County. As a second year member on RALSD- Rising Arts Leaders she serves as Treasurer.
